We had seen Intel's medfield based Android smartphone back at CES but there were no details about the phone coming to India. Now, thanks to the Indian based LAVA International Ltd., the Indian market will get their first Intel-based smartphone running on Android. Unveiled back in Barcelona at MWC, it's called 'XOLO X900'. The 'XOLO X900' runs on Intel's smartphone reference design, featuring the Intel 1.6GHz Atom processor Z2460 with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology.
List of specifications we know by-far:
- 4.03-inch 1024x600 resolution LCD display
- 1.6GHz Atom Z2460 processor
- HSPA+ network support, NFC, HDMI
- 1,460mAh
- 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video and burst shot of 10 photos a second, 3-megapixel front camera.
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Vishal Sehgal, Co-Founder and Director of Lava International said, “We are proud to partner with Intel on XOLO to bring a superior smartphone computing experience to customers in India. Over the last two and a half years, we have built our business in the feature phone segment where Lava has been the brand of choice for nearly 10 million Indian customers. With XOLO, we intend to now serve the discerning and fast-paced smartphone customer, which is where this collaboration with Intel is critical to us.”
Although LAVA isn't a big name in the mobile industry, they are still growing very fast in the Indian market and if publicized properly, then the XOLO X900 can bring in fame and growth to their company. Kudos to them, we will get to see the first Intel-based phone in India by the second-quarter of this year. No word on the pricing yet.
