After years of endless rumours and brainwork, Toyota Motors
has finally announced that they will be introducing their premium marque, Lexus in India by 2013. The launch of Lexus here in India will allow the Japanese Giant
to take on the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi in the luxury side of
business. The Lexus range will be sold through purposeful network of dealerships
across major cities of India. However, prices would be on the higher side as the
whole range will be imported from Japan and will be sold as a completely-built
unit (CBU).
Globally, Lexus has a strong presence in the American and
Japanese market, and it is known for its Hybrid power-trains too, which will surely
differentiate the brand from its rivals. Moreover, the ‘Lexus’ name is already quite
familiar here and the brand has a cracking market value in India. The range of
models and prices are yet to be announced. Here’s what we expect from the
Japanese Giant’s stable-
Lexus GS (Mid-Size Sedan) - Direct Rival for the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes Benz E-Class
The RX (Crossover SUV) - Lexus' answer to the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Land Rover Freelander 2
Lexus IS - The Baby Lexus of 'em all
Lexus LS - Beautifully made! A luxury Yacht on wheels no less
