The annual World Car of the Year Awards have been presented at the 2012 New York Motor Show.
Defeating some really tough competition in the likes of 2012 BMW 3-Series and the 2012 Porsche 911, the little Up! has won the prestigious 2012 World Car of the Year Award.
On the whole, all the entries competed for honors in four different categories with the number of contenders well over 30. Meanwhile, the new 991-series Porsche 911 bagged the 2012 World Performance Car of the Year Award, beating Lamborghini's Aventador and the McLaren MP4-12C.
Other winners include Mercedes-Benz' new S250 CDI, which
took the World Green Car
of the Year Award. And finally, the Range Rover Evoque took top honors for its achingly beautiful looks inside out, winning the World Car Design of the Year Award.
