Panasonic announces the all-new Lumix DMC-GF5


Panasonic has announced a new Micro Four Third cameras -  Lumix DMC-GF5, an upgrade from the old GF3. It's a mirrorless, interchangeable lens digital camera.


Just like it's predecessor, this one hosts the same 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensors with Venus image engine. It will come with Panasonic G X Vario PZ 14-42mm lens kit with motorized zoom and focus levers. The ISO sensitivity gets a boost here with maximum level of 12,800 unlike the GF3 which had levels till 6400. This one can capture video at 1080/60 fps in AVCHD or 1080p 30 fps in MP4 and a stereo microphone has been added too. The burst mode has been upgraded to 4 frames per second. A 3-inch 
920k-dot resolution touchscreen LCD display is present here featuring Graphic User Interface (GUI).

"Panasonic expects the LUMIX GF5 to please photo enthusiasts and budding photographers that are looking for the next step from the traditional point-and-shoot camera," said Christopher Rice, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Marketing Company of North America.


The Lumix DMC-GF5 will be available in black, white and red. Body with 14-42mm standard zoom lens will have a suggested retail price (SRP) of $599; body with 14-42mm power zoom lens will have an SRP of $749. No launch date is availabe yet.
