American giant Chrysler has revealed an all-new version of its iconic Viper sportscar at the 2012 New York Motor Show.
Taking the legacy ahead, the new SRT Viper produces an eye-popping 640bhp and 600lb ft of torque from the previous car’s 8.4-litre V10 engine (reworked version) Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed gearbox. The whole car itself is quite light; the chassis is pure aluminium and most of the bodywork is made from carbonfibre.
The end result is, a power-to-weight ratio that is in line with the most extreme supercars on planet. There will be two versions on offer - the stripped-down standard Viper and a more comfortable ‘GTS’ version with all the creature comforts.
