The original iPad took 80 days to sell 3 million. The iPad 2 roughly sold 1 million in 3 days. But, hold your breaths before you read the new iPad's record.
Apple went ahead and gave out a press release flaunting those big record sales numbers and those really are big numbers. The release says the new iPad sold a whopping 3 million in just 3 days. That's even more compared to the iPhone 4S that sold 4 million units in the first week of it's sale last year. We did some math and the results showed, 695 new iPads were sold in just a minute. Drop your jaws! Digging more into facts, the new iPad sold more than RIM has sold PlayBooks and Motorola has sold Xooms in a year combined.
In the release, Apple also mentioned that the new iPad will be available in 24 more countries starting at 8:00 a.m. local time on Friday, March 23 through the Apple Online Store and authorized sellers. This list of countries didn't include India. So, I guess there's more time to wait before we get a chance to hold this record-breaker in our hands.
