Nissan to introduce its low-cost Datsun brand, first products to launch in 2014

Nissan Datsun

Nissan India is all set for a revival.

The brand in question is Datsun - the makers of low-cost, efficient cars that work under Nissan. For the very first time, the Japanese bigwig has considered bringing in Datsun to the Indian shores. Datsun will officially launch its first car in 2014, preferably, a small hatchback to rival the likes of Chevrolet Beat and Maruti Suzuki A-Star.

In other markets, Datsun is known for making affordable and sensible cars and that is what it takes to survive in a developing market like ours. With its efficient and reliable lineup of small cars, the brand will aim at used or first-time car buyer. In its first year, Datsun will launch two new models in the entry-level hatchback segment with prices expected to be under the Rs 4 lakh bracket.

Both the models will be designed and built on an all-new platform. With the launch of Datsun, Nissan could very well lead the charge in the small car brigade.
